The Teaching Improvement Program was approved in 2005. Addressed to students enrolled in master’s and doctoral courses at the University of São Paulo, it aims to improve the teaching training of the graduate student through direct contact with undergraduate teaching. It is carried out in two stages: pedagogical preparation and supervised internship in teaching. The pedagogical preparation corresponds to a discipline whose content addresses aspects of Higher Education. The supervised internship is carried out in undergraduate disciplines taught at USP. In the end, a certificate and credits are awarded to graduate students with good performance. This program is mandatory for CAPES scholarship students and elective for other graduates. More than 70% of graduate students in the Cellular and Molecular Biology Program engage in the program activities.

In four years (2017-2020), thirty students attended the TIP (average 7.5 per year), and 24 received scholarships. These activities benefit both graduate students (for teaching training) and undergraduate students (for coverage in practical classes, seminars, directed studies, and reviews of the subject during tests).
